GENETIC PAINTING
AN ARTISTS CANVAS FOR DAYLILY HYBRIDIZING

Hello daylily lovers around the world!

Spring 2010's twenty new Ludlow Lambertson hybrids show a dazzling daylily display of depth in variety, color and distinction. The teethies this year - BEAKS & BILLS and sister seedling YIKES SPIKES - are great breeders, along with ARCHAEOPTERYX which has teeth and blue eyes in its breeding. The five UFOs vary from blue and patterned eyes to appliquéd eyes. The blue eyes this year are outstanding, all with power to move the color blue in daylilies to new flights and heights. CELL TOWER and PURPLE PAGODA continue to help the purples with blue & gray eyes and edges. ART A FACT, BIRDWALK, WAXWING WATERCOLOR and WINGBEATS all have patterns in their background. The new color for me in the round formal form is VERMILION FLYCATCHER with its bold velvet red eye and edge.

Thank you to our customers for their continued interest and support for our hybridizing program. The enthusiastic presence of garden visitors and the AHS National Convention attendees brightened our garden paths this past May. The best part of growing daylilies is our contact with people who share our passion- what a wonderful extended family! Heartfelt thanks to Sunny Barbee and Barry Matthie for their help during the National Convention. We are already looking forward to the upcoming garden season. We INVITE you all to come see the bloom in magical May!
